Early detection is an important key for treating Austism and improving cognitive function.
A new technique lead by Dr. Karen Pierce from University of California San Diego, Department of Neurosciences, utilizes a questionnaire for the parents asking important questions about the communication development of their child and helps determine whether it is appropriate for their age. This subtle testing technique has proved effective for early testing of autism.
Infants that failed this screening technique were then referred to UC San Diego Autism Center of Excellence (ACE) for further testing.
