Is there no form of sex that is safe? Most people think about the disease risks in regards to sex as dealing with anal and vaginal intercourse, largely ignoring oral sex. However, as recent data is showing, oral sex is not a safer alternative to "regular" sex, as there are plenty of diseases you can still catch. Most STDs you can actually catch through oral sex as well.
One rising statistic, is that men are coming down with greater incidence of oral cancer and this is thought to be attributed to oral sex and HPV infection. HPV is the virus known to cause cervical cancer in women. The HPV vaccine, which I talk about in a previous blog, The HPV vaccine. Is healthcare being stupid and sexist? Share this is given to women to prevent HPV infection and eventually cancer. Well perhaps healthcare shouldn't be so stupid and start vaccinating men as well.
